Feinstein Goes For Broke With New Gun-Ban Bill

Posted on December 27, 2012gun

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)—author of the federal “assault weapon” and “large” ammunition magazine ban of 1994-2004—has announced that on the first day of the new Congress—January 3rd— she will introduce a bill to which her 1994 ban will pale by comparison. On Dec. 17th, Feinstein said, “I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation” and “It will be carefully focused.” Indicating the depth of her research on the issue, she said on Dec. 21st that she had personally looked at pictures of guns in 1993, and again in 2012.  Read more . . .

$200 for your gun

San Francisco And Oakland Crowds Hand Over Guns in Buyback

December 22, 2012/Source: Breitbart

In San Francisco and Oakland on Saturday, citizens brought their guns to sell to the police in return for cash. Every volunteer who returned a gun was $200 richer walking away. The line was so long in San Francisco that there was no cash left after lunchtime and I.O.U.s were substituted instead.

Oakland’s citizens gave even more guns back, including assault weapons and Ak-47s; the line of people returning guns, which was comprised of those standing and those in cars, was almost two miles long. A limit of three per person was imposed.

Oakland’s police chief, Howard Jordan, said, “When we remove guns off our streets that could be used in a crime, we reduce the possibility of our youth and community being a victim.”

The Left on the Attack

gun controlNRA’s LaPierre Getting the Alinsky Treatment

Joseph Smith

Since the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre proposed armed security for every school, the left has reacted with the same Alinsky tactics used on Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney — freeze the target, personalize it, demonize it.

Within minutes of the NRA press conference and its Code Pink interruptions, MSNBC called LaPierre’s comments a “train wreck… a dramatic statement about the absurdity of the NRA’s increasingly twisted worldview.”Read more:

NRA and CRPA Foundation vs. Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens in U. S. District Court

September 13, 2012 – In response to continuing complaints from Orange County firearms owners and Second Amendment civil rights activists, attorneys for the National Rifle Association and the CRPA Foundation have filed a lawsuit against Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens in U. S. District Court.

Orange County citizens should be able to exercise their fundamental right to bear arms, but they are precluded from doing so because they do not have what Sheriff Hutchens uniquely considers “good cause” for a license to carry a firearm in public.  More…

U.N. triggers Plan B on global gun control

‘What’s at stake is the entire fate of firearms in America’

Americans who thought the United Nations’ gun-grabbing agenda collapsed with the adjournment of the Small Arms Treaty meetings in July are in for a surprise.

Enter the U.N. Programme Against Small Arms, an administrative program that National Association for Gun Rights Executive Vice President Dudley Brown says wouldn’t require a vote in Congress to be enacted, but has so far flown under the radar of most gun-rights groups.

A U.N. conference called the “Second United Nations Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects) that concluded this past week drafted a 2012 report that says the body maintains its commitment eliminate small arms trade, despite the July setback.  More…

Ignorance abounds in gun control stories

AWithin minutes of the most recent Colorado and Wisconsin massacres, breathless reporters and opportunistic lawmakers began calling for more gun control laws.  In their haste for politically correct stories, and with visions of legacy legislation dancing in their heads, they neglected to ask the right questions — questions about the nut jobs who committed these heinous crimes.  More…

Correcting Some “Assault Weapon” Myths

It is natural for a free society to reflect upon its laws and norms when something like the Aurora massacre occurs. It is important, however, that consequential realities not get lost to hysteria and partisan agendas.

“AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers,” not citizens.  Thus opined Barack Obama this week before the Urban League convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tell that to Syrian rebels, resisting the soldiers of Bashar al-Assad’s army.  Tell that to Korean-American shopowners, who defended their lives and livelihoods as recently as the Los Angeles riots, when police were unavailable to stop murderous mobs.  Cambodians or Rwandans might also beg to differ, recalling the genocidal films “The Killing Fields” and “Hotel Rwanda.”  Even the Dalai Lama is reported to have said, “If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.”  More…

100 Million Gun Owners Didn’t Kill Anyone Last Week

guns SC 100 Million Gun Owners Didnt Kill Anyone Last Week

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.” – Thomas Jefferson

For my tenth birthday, I wanted a BB gun. Like the mother in “A Christmas Story,” mom simply said, “You’ll shoot your eye out.” Dad had a wiser response. He gave me a choice. I could have the BB gun or a pair of Roy Rogers cap pistols I had been admiring. He made it clear to me that once I owned a weapon that actually fired real projectiles — even if they were only BBs — my toy gun days were over. I chose the pistols, and he knew I wasn’t ready for the real thing.  More…

Obama told to back off U.N. gun treaty

2ND AMENDMENT UNDER FIRE

Lawmakers join general in declaring pact a threat to freedom

Over 100 members of Congress appear to share the concerns of a former Army general who has sounded the alarm over efforts by the Obama Administration to push through the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, or ATT.

As WND reported, retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin earlier this year, in a video in which he claimed Obama was leading America down the path of a quiet, Marxist revolution, blasted the ATT, also known as the small arms treaty, saying it would regulate private gun ownership.  More…

Secret Wiretap Applications

Darrell Issa Puts Details of Secret Wiretap Applications in Congressional Record

In the midst of a fiery floor debate over contempt proceedings for Attorney General Eric Holder, House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) quietly dropped a bombshell letter into the Congressional Record.

The May 24 letter to Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), ranking member on the panel, quotes from and describes in detail a secret wiretap application that has become a point of debate in the GOP’s “Fast and Furious” gun-walking probe.

The wiretap applications are under court seal, and releasing such information to the public would ordinarily be illegal. But Issa appears to be protected by the Speech or Debate Clause in the Constitution, which offers immunity for Congressional speech, especially on a chamber’s floor.

According to the letter, the wiretap applications contained a startling amount of detail about the operation, which would have tipped off anyone who read them closely about what tactics were being used.  More…

Gun Legislation Alert

CA Gun Law will penalize victims of gun theft:
SB 1366 passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee and is on its way to Appropriations. It requires owners of legally registered guns to report theft of a gun within 48 hours of the time he or she “knew or should have known” the gun was missing. This penalizes gun owners twice, turning a victim into a criminal. Check out the below summary with other references from the NRA:

Here’s another CA law SB 249 that can turn gun owners into criminals. Possession of a “conversion” kit for weapons is a crime, even if you don’t have a gun. Read more about it at:

Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) latest legal action on CA law agencies not returning guns to owners charged with a crime, but later declared innocent. Read on at their web site:

CA Legislature Childish Behavior

Assembly catfight over guns

May 22, 2012/By Katy Grimes

Retribution in politics isn’t unusual. Every year we witness members of the Legislature receiving punishment from party leadership, often followed by banishment to a tiny office and committee assignments taken away.

That’s the prerogative of party leadership.

However, Assemblywoman Norma Torres, D-Chino, has taken aim at a fellow member of the Assembly in a very public way. Torres authored AB 2182, which would require a police officer to arrest anyone for carrying a concealed handgun into an airport without a concealed weapons permit.  More…
